A treat for sparkling wine lovers. In this Master Class, you will get to know and taste extremely interesting single-varietal Austrian sparkling wines.

Weingut Steininger is a prestigious family-owned winery in Langenlois, in the Kamptal wine region in Austria. The estate is particularly known for its Grüner Veltliner and Riesling wines, which are typical of the region, where the cool nights of Kamptal and the varying loess, clay and bedrock soils are reflected in freshness, minerality and a clear expression of origin.

Eva's parents Karl and Birgitta took over the Steininger estate in 1980. Their eldest daughter Eva Steininger and her husband Peter are the second generation owners of the winery. Eva has been managing the winery since 2021 and is responsible for sales, marketing and administration. Peter oversees the vineyards and cellar hand in hand with Eva's father Karl.

Steininger is also one of Austria's renowned Sekt producers. The estate began producing sparkling wines made using the traditional bottle fermentation method in 1989, and its specialty is varietal and vintage-specific sparkling wines, which aim to preserve the unique character of Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and other Kamptal varieties.

Steininger's specialty is varietal and vintage-specific sparkling wines, where the aim is to preserve the unique aromas of each variety as clearly as possible. The sparkling wines are made using the traditional bottle fermentation method, and the fine bubble structure emphasizes the fruitiness, freshness and varietal-specific characteristics of the wines.

The selection includes Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Muskateller, Traminer, Weißburgunder, Zweigelt and Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé. Of particular interest are the Grüner Veltliner and Riesling sparkling wines, which are characteristic of Kamptal, combining the personality of the varieties and the terroir of the region. Steininger also produces Methode Elementar sparkling wines, in which the second fermentation takes place using only the natural sugar of the grapes and the wines are finished without dosage.

Steininger's style combines a long family tradition, modern winemaking and a strong terroir mindset, and the estate is also a member of the prestigious Österreichische Traditionsweingüter (ÖTW) association.
