Master Class (FI) - Borgogno - Icon of Barolo

    Master Class  FRI ct 16th at 19:30 - 20:20

Lecturer: Fabio Valpreda,  Export Manager, Borgogno

This Master Class will be held in English

Borgogno is one of the most historic and prestigious wine houses in Piedmont and the whole of Barolo. Founded in 1761 by Bartolomeo Borgogno in the village of Barolo, over its 260-year history it has become a significant representative of classic Barolo, which many today consider a cult producer. Since 2008 the estate has been owned by the Farinetti family, but the starting point for production is still a strong respect for tradition.

The story of Borgogno is strongly linked to Italian history and the 19th century, when the land was more or less transformed into its current form. A document from 1848 tells that the king's army asked Borgogno to make wine for them from the following year's harvest. The house's wine was also used at an official gala dinner in 1861, which was held in honor of the Risorgimento, the unification of Italy.

In this master class, you will join Borgogno’s export manager Fabio Valpreda on a tasting journey to Piedmont and hear the story of Borgogno, which has made the producer a strong and iconic brand. You will taste the rare white grape Timorasso from Piedmont, as well as the region’s pear grapes Barbera and Nebbiolo. Borgogno is particularly known for its Nebbiolo and its long-aged Barolos.

Borgogno’s export manager Fabio Valpreda is an Italian wine professional with a strong background in international wine sales, business development and brand representation. Born and raised in the Piedmont wine region, Valpreda has built his career around the sales of Italian wines and the development of international markets. Fabio holds a Master’s degree in Food and Wine Production and has strengthened his wine knowledge through specialized training at the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET).
