Master Class (ENG): Viña San Pedro - A journey of Chilean premium wines

    Master Class FRI 17.10.26 at 16:30 - 17:20

Lecturer: Maria Jesus, Wine Ambassador, Viña San Pedro

This Master Class lecture will be held in English.

In this Master Class lecture, led by Viña San Pedro's wine ambassador Maria Jesus, you will hear about Viña San Pedro's development from a historic Curicó winery to a modern Chilean top producer - from the classic Reserva tradition of Castillo de Molina and the terroir thinking of the 1865 series to the iconic wines of Sideral, Altair and Cabo de Hornos.

San Pedro's Viña San Pedro is one of Chile's oldest and most important wineries, founded in the Curicón Valley in 1865. Today, San Pedro is known for its extensive knowledge of Chilean terroirs and wines that range from high-quality reserva wines to the most prestigious iconic wines.

Castillo de Molina is San Pedro's classic premium series and an important part of the house's history. The idea of Castillo de Molina is to combine grape varieties with the Chilean growing regions that best suit them. The first Elqui Valley Sauvignon Blanc was launched on the market under the name Castillo de Molina.

1865 is named after the year Viña San Pedro was founded. Launched in 2002, the premium series is built around a carefully selected grape variety and the Chilean terroir that suits it, so that the wines highlight the characteristics of both the variety and the growing location.

In this lecture, you will be able to taste, among others, 1865 Tayu Pinot Noir, one of Viña San Pedro’s most exciting wine projects. In 2015, San Pedro searched for a cool and extreme place in southern Chile for high-quality Pinot Noir. The suitable terroir was found in the Malleco Valley, in the Purén region, where the project was carried out in collaboration with families from the local Mapuche community of Buchahueico. Members of the community planted the vineyards and learned viticulture under the guidance of San Pedro’s experts.

At the top of San Pedro’s portfolio are Sideral, Altair and Cabo de Hornos. Sideral is a sophisticated red blend from Cachapoal in the foothills of the Andes, Altair is one of the house’s most prestigious iconic wines, and Cabo de Hornos is San Pedro’s iconic 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, whose grapes grow in the Cachapoal Valley in the foothills of the Andes.

Viña San Pedro’s Wine Ambassador Maria Jesus is a trained winemaker and acts as an international trainer and brand ambassador.
