As this champagne is as beautiful as a jewel, the bottle is adorned with an elegant vine tiara designed by the Parisian jeweller Arthus-Bertrand. Over more than forty years, Rare Champagne has released only fifteen vintages. In this exclusive master class, you will have the opportunity to discover this rare gem in the company of Cellar Master Emilien Boutillat himself.

Over the course of the master class, Emilien will guide us through the world of Rare Champagne via four exquisite vintages. We will be among the very first to taste the soon-to-be-released 2015 vintage. This will be followed by an exploration of Rare’s remarkable ageing potential through two iconic vintages, 2012 and 2002. Finally, Emilien will unveil a true treasure from his cellar: the majestic 1985 vintage, recently disgorged for ultimate freshness. A master class that is, quite simply, Rare.

Emilien Boutillat was born to a family of Champagne winegrowers, and as a result he has been surrounded by vineyards since his earliest childhood. Thus, studying oenology and agricultural engineering was the most organic and obvious choice for him. After finishing his studies, Emilien travelled the world to discover other wine terroirs and their wines. In 2013 he returned to Champagne to become the cellar master of Cattier and Armand de Brignac. From there he moved on to become Piper-Heidsieck’s cellar master in 2018 and in 2022 he was also appointed as Rare Champagne’s Cellar Master.
