Piper-Heidsieck’s 200-year-old Champagne House is in steep ascent. In fact, it has been the most awarded Champagne House of this century*.. Now, the house’s Cellar Master, Emilien Boutillat, will guide us through Piper-Heidsieck’s delicious, Pinot Noir–infused style and its latest innovations. With Boutillat at the helm, fresh winds are blowing through Piper-Heidsieck, and he has recently created two new, still wine interpretations of Champagne’s terroir and the house’s winemaking style. In this tasting, you will have the opportunity to discover these rare ‘Hors-Série’ Coteaux Champenois treasures from the villages of Aÿ and Ambonnay.

Already on his second year at Piper-Heidsieck in 2019, Emilien created an entirely new champagne, Essentiel Blanc de Noirs, which highlights the house’s Pinot Noir expertise and potential. Now, we will have the chance to taste both its inaugural and its second iteration. The house’s Vintage is an age-worthy classic, full of richness and deliciousness of Pinot Noir, and we will taste it from the outstanding 2018 vintage. Additionally, Emilien will offer a preview of the upcoming 2019 vintage, a top year that everyone is thirsting for. Step onto Piper-Heidsieck’s red carpet and dive into the delicious world of its Pinot Noirs.

*A Piper-Heidsieck cellar master, has been awarded 9 times as Best Sparkling Wine winemaker of the Year since 2002 by the IWC.

Emilien Boutillat was born to a family of Champagne winegrowers, and as a result he has been surrounded by vineyards since his earliest childhood. Thus, studying oenology and agricultural engineering was the most organic and obvious choice for him. After finishing his studies, Emilien travelled the world to discover other wine terroirs and their wines. In 2013 he returned to Champagne to become the cellar master of Cattier and Armand de Brignac. From there he moved on to become Piper-Heidsieck’s cellar master in 2018 and in 2022 he was also appointed as Rare Champagne’s Cellar Master.
