It is rare to witness the birth of a new Champagne house - rarer still when it emerges from one of the region’s most storied estates. Today marks such a moment. After nearly two decades of dialogue with successive Pommery cellar masters, Jean-Paul Vranken proudly unveils Maison Pompadour.

The story begins in 2002, when Pommery created an extraordinary prestige cuvée from a singular site: Clos Pompadour, a remarkable 25-hectare walled vineyard located within the city of Reims. Planted in the 19th century by Henri Vasnier—trusted confidant and right hand of Madame Louise Pommery—this historic clos stands as one of Champagne’s most exceptional urban vineyards. The original Clos Pompadour champagne was produced in extremely limited quantities and released exclusively in magnum. Today, that singular expression evolves into something broader yet equally precise. Maison Pompadour is introduced as a family of Champagnes. This tasting invites you to discover both the story and the wines of Maison Pompadour through Clément Pierlot, its creator and chef de cave, as he reveals a vision that bridges heritage, terroir, and contemporary Champagne craftsmanship.

Grandson of a farmer, Clément Pierlot has always been passionate about working the land. After having finished his degree in Earth and Life Science in Reims, he studied viticulture and oenology in Montpellier. He joined the Vranken-Pommery group in 2004 as vineyard director. From 2014, he took control of oenological development for Champagne as well as for England. For Paul-François Vranken, Clément Pierlot was the natural choice as the tenth cellar master for Pommery Champagnes in 2017.
