The much-loved style Bollinger is built on five fundamental pillars: the House’s own vineyards, its mastery of Pinot Noir, vinification in oak barrels, the use of magnums of reserve wines, and above all, time. Together, these elements define Bollinger’s unmistakable character, the depth and longevity of its champagnes. In this masterclass, winemaker Bérangère Fierfort-Caqué presents an almost complete overview of the portfolio of this prestigious Champagne house. The tasting begins with its flagship Special Cuvée, followed by one of Bollinger’s most recent and intriguing creations, PN, a Pinot Noir expression that highlights the House’s terroir sensitivity. We then turn to a true Bollinger classic, La Grande Année, and its sublime rosé counterpart, as Bérangère introduces the newly released top vintage 2018. A rare highlight of the tasting is the iconic, long-aged RD, represented here by the outstanding 2008 vintage. Rarer still is La Côte aux Enfants Champagne 2015, a single-vineyard gem from Bollinger’s most legendary plot in Aÿ, bearing the same name. Bérangère Fierfort-Caqué has worked for eight years as winemaker alongside Bollinger’s cellar master Denis Bunner. In her role, she is a key member of the House’s tasting panel, contributing to the creation and final blending of every Bollinger cuvée. Deeply involved in shaping Bollinger’s distinctive style, she brings first-hand insight into the House’s philosophy, craftsmanship and pursuit of excellence.
